Abstract
265,996. Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken Akt.-Ges. Feb. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments.-The cakes of artificial silk, particularly viscose silk, collected in the centrifugal boxes are washed and centrifuged in the boxes in which they are spun, and are then reeled into hanks and finally dried, preferably under tension. During the washing operation the cakes of silk are rapidly rotated, and in order to protect the cake the water or other liquid is supplied in an atomized condition. The washing process may be carried out in the spinning machine, but it is preferred to provide separate spindles to which the boxes can be transferred, and with these spindles are associated spraying nozzles, collecting devices for liquid, &c. It is convenient to collect the first wash waters separately so as to permit recovery of the chemicals contained therein. Desulphurizing, bleaching or softening agents may be added to the wash water.
