Abstract
598,838. Lipstick &c. holders. GRIFFITHS, C. J. Sept. 20, 1945, No. 24346. [Class 18] A refill device for use with a lipstick or like holder comprises a cup-like socket 2 forming one element of a bayonet-joint and a cover 4 fitting upon the socket. The cover may be made wholly or partly of transparent plastic material or of glass, and may be a press-on fit or may be screw-threaded to engage the socket. A diametrically disposed flange or projection 3 engages the lipstick to prevent rotation. The socket 2 is received in a cup-like complementary bayonet-joint fitting 9 having a projection 13 engaging in longitudinal and helical slots in relatively rotatable sleeves 10, 11, so that the fitting 9 with the socket 2 and lipstick can be projected and withdrawn. A yielding pad 14 or spring-loaded member may be arranged to maintain the bayonet connection under pressure. The relatively rotatable sleeves 10, 11 are prevented from longitudinal movement by a circlip 18 engaging grooves in the sleeves. The lower end 26 of the holder may be extended by a screw-threaded or plain spigot by which a second lipstick holder or a cigarette lighter can be attached.
