Abstract

654,140. Containers with brush-rests. COOKE, N. R. Feb. 8, 1946, Nos. 4042 and 13811. [Class 66] A container 10 for paint &c. has within it a brush-rest comprising a bar 18 extending across its mouth and connected by hairpin bends or loops 22 to resilient arms 20 pressing against its wall. The bar 18 may be offset from the axis of the container and the centres of the arms 20 may lie approximately in an axial plane. Each arm 20 and bend 22 may together form a "6". Loops may lie on the same or the opposite side of the bar 18 to the arms 20. The loops may be helical. The brush-rest may be held in the container by friction. The arms may be roughened and each may fit intc a groove 25. An internal rib or ribs may be formed in the wall to support the brush-rest. The latter may be made of spring steel. The container may have a restricted neck formed by inturning its lip or by fixing a sleeve 13 in its mouth.
