Abstract

598,546. Jointing by stamping. BORRADALE, C. S. Nov. 15, 1944, No. 22570. Convention date, Aug. 21. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 4, 1945.] [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Making electric terminals.-A binding lug for clamping to the looped end of a wire consists of two dished annular parts 2, 4, connected by a tubular neck 3. The loop of wire is inserted and the parts 2, 4 are squeezed or hammered round it. The lug may be formed in one piece, Fig. 3, from a disc or a length of tube. A slot or lip 5 may be formed in one dished part to receive the wire. the lugmay be split, Fig. 9, to provide an expanding lug. If electrical connection is not required, the surfaces of the lug next to the wire may have an insulating lining, Fig. 10 (not shown). The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a lug built up from two parts held together by friction, crimping, welding, soldering or brazing and the insertion of a spring washer interposed between these parts during manufacture. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
