Abstract

598,491. Ticket printing and issuing machines. T.I.M. (TICKET - ISSUE MACHINES), Ltd., and FORD, H. F. Sept. 20, 1945, No. 24387. [Class 106 (iii)] Means for controlling the paper feed in a ticket printing and issuing machine comprises independently mounted elements carrying between them a pressure roller characterized in that the said elements and the roller are spring urged into contact with the paper strip. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4 two brackets 6 and 7 carrying between them on a spindle 16 a pressure roller 17 and having at their front ends serrated feet 14 are independently pivoted at their rear ends on a spindle 8 carried by side frame members 20 fixed to the cover 5. Two springs 21 coiled about the spindle 8 and forming a central loop 23 urge the brackets 6 and 7 downwardly so that the feet 14 and the pressure roller 17 contact the paper strip. The springs 21 also serve to maintain engagement between two locking members 27 and 30 on the cover 5 (Fig. 3, not shown). When the printing roller 4 is rotated, the pressure roller 17 is forced upwards by the " type surface," brackets 6 and 7 are thus moved upwardly about spindle 8 against the pressure of spring 21 and the feet 14 are lifted from the paper strip enabling the printed part to be ejected. When printing is finished feet 14 again clamp down on the strip and the printed ticket can be torn along the serrated edges of the feet 14. Specification 368,802 is referred to.
