Abstract

598,035. Spray-producers. ROGERS, J. Aug. 29, 1945, Nos. 22270/45 and 12491/46. [Class 69 (iii)] To convert a jet into a fan spray a nozzle 1 is provided with a bore 2 for a solid jet and a deflector 10 which can be moved into and held in two positions, in one being clear of the jet and in the other deflecting it into a curve without shock or splashing. The bore 2 can preferably be closed by a ball-detent 13 which cuts off the flow of liquid and engages locating recesses 15 to hold the deflector block 9 in the jet or flat-spray positions. The deflector 10 is eccentrically mounted in relation to the bore and is moved by a knurled ring 7 on the body 6. A stop is preferably provided to limit the movement of the ring between the extreme positions. As shown in Fig. 5, the deflector block may have two parallel bores 2a, 2b. The deflector angle may conventiently be 20 degrees to the axis of the jet, and a shoulder 5 provided to protect the ring nange 8 from the hose.
