Abstract
597,793. Alternators. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. Aug. 27, 1945, No. 21976. [Class 35] In an alternator or its exciter fed through a transformer and rectifier with current varying with the main volts and current, the input to the rectifier is increased when the alternator volts are low. In the form shown, the saturable inductance 10 is connected at 13 to the secondary 7 of the transformer supplying the rectifier 3 and at 14 to an unsaturated inductance, whereby, at low voltages when the alternator volts are low, inductance .10 is unsaturated and serves as an auto-transformer to boost the voltage fed to the rectifier.
