[Classes 35 and 38 (iv)] The voltage of ar alternator is main tained constant under varying load by making its excitation the rectified resultant of a current proportional to the load and a current proportional to, but in quadrature with the voltage, the latter component being obtained from inductance and capacity in parallel with the generator. In the form shown, the current feeding the field winding 2 through the rectifier 5 is derived partly from the series connected condenser 4 and inductance 3 and partly from the transformer 6. The positions of the condenser and inductance relatively to the rectifier may be interchanged. Specifications 24099/02, [Class 35], and 439,955 are referred to.
