597,674. Radio receiving apparatus. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and BURNARD, C. L. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21679. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio receiver with a number of continuous tuning ranges, the wave-range selecting switch includes an additional position in which predetermined wave-lengths may be selected under push-button control. In positions 1-6 of the ganged switch B, the set is tuned to short-wave ranges by means of the ganged variable inductances L3, 12 in conjunction with the shunt inductances L4-8 and L13-17 and condensers C12, 50 and C23, 28 respectively The positions 7 and 8 cover medum and long waves, using the fixed inductances L1, 11 and L2, 10 respectively and the ganged variable condensers C10, 11. In position 9 the condensers C10, 11 are replaced by the preset condensers C5-9 and inductances L18-22 as chosen by the push-button switches PB1-5. In a further position 10 the tuning means are disconnected and the grid of the valve V1 grounded to permit of gramophone reproduction.
