Abstract
597,645. Mounting indicating-apparatus. ESDAILE, E. W. Dec. 20, 1944, No. 25584. [Class 106 (iv)] [Also in Groups XX and XXXII] A gimbal ring (not shown) wherein is suspended a mariner's compass, is supported by knife-edged lugs 9a in notches 4a in crossheads 11 which slide in grooves 12 in frames 7, 8, fixed inside the binnacle head 5. A spindle 13 is fixed to each cross-head and passes freely through holes in a cross-head plate 14, also sliding in the grooves 12 and in the lower member 15 of each frame. Springs 19, 18 and 17 of dissimilar length and resiliency are disposed along each spindle between the crosshead, the cross-head plate, the member 15 and adjusting nuts 16 respectively.
