The invention is shown applied to a magnetic compass g supported in gimbals h, i, the outer gimbal ring i being connected to a binnacle p by springs not shown. The vibration-damping member l is carried by springs o rigidly secured by bolts m to the outer gimbal ring. i. The damping effect is adjusted by placing annular weights r inside the member l.
