[Class 97 (iii)] A navigational gyroscope particularly an azimuthal gyroscope comprises the combination of an electrically driven gyroscope suspended on gimbals, means such as tangential air flow 7 from the casing 1 for producing torques about the gimbal axis for maintaining the plane of rotation of the gyroscope in the normal. position and means comprising springs 11, 12 for balancing out the frictional movements in the bearings of the axis 2 when the plane of rotation of the gyroscope is deflected from its normal position. The springs 11, 12 which may be of other forms, also serve as the electric current supply leads.
