Abstract
597,496. Switch contacts. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd., and HAMBLEN, R. J. Aug. 22, 1945, No. 21425. [Class 38(v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a contact arrangement for a disconnecting link or fuse, a wedging member 13, when rotated by a lever 14, urges contacts 3, 4 on the carrier 2 towards each other to grip a fixed blade contact 5. A pin 11, screwed into a fixed bracket 9, passes through holes in contacts 3, 4, and a slot in contact 5 and loosely carries the wedging member 13 and a compression spring 15. The contacts 3, 4 are moved to grip the contact 5 by the interaction of a camshaped part 7 on contact 4 and a corresponding surface on member 13, the limbs of contact 4 being separated by a spacing piece 8. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the member 13 and the outer of the two limbs 4 have corresponding humps and depressions which are moved out of register to cause the gripping action. In the operative position of the wedging members, the levers 14 at each end obstruct access to the holder 2. The Specification refers also to co-operating surfaces on the end stop 12 and member 13.
