596,786. Asymmetrically-conducting resistances. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 29, 1944, No. 18683. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1943. [Class 37] Dry rectifier elements have lateral segmental areas 15 of insulating material 14 disposed over part of the semi-conducting layer 12 and beneath a counter-electrode 16 of substantially uniform thickness. On assembly of several units into a stack, end supporting pressure is transmitted through the raised segmental areas 18 and not by the uninsulated recessed transverse area 17. The method of manufacture comprises masking the area 17, spraying the element with insulating material, removing the masking strip and then applying the counter-electrode 16.
