Abstract
546,611. Selenium cells. SANGAMO WESTON, Ltd. Sept. 18, 1941, No. 11960. Convention date, May 3. [Class 40 (iii)] A photo-cell, for sub-division into small sized units, comprises a base-plate 1a which has had its fracture-resistance decreased along preselected lines, as by punching or by grooving, 4a, 5a, with appropriate coatings of selenium 2a and counter-electrode metal 3a, both applied, before sub-division in a single operation but with the latter, in some cases, in separated areas as shown. Sub-division can readily be effected along the grooved lines by bending. As shown a sprayed connection band of metal may be applied to the electrodes 3a either extending over the selenium surface as at 6 or individual to each layer 3a as at 6a. The grooving may be effected before or after the coating of the base. Coatings may be applied to each side of the base.
