Abstract

The dielectric of a condenser comprises polymerized diallyl phthalate. The condenser elements in wound or stack form are vacuum-dried in known manner and impregnated with monomeric diallyl phthalate in metal or cardboard moulds. Benzoyl peroxide may be added as catalyst. Partial polymerization is effected by heating at 55 DEG C. for five hours, the filling holes are closed and the assembly is further heated for 65 hours at 55 DEG C., 16 hours at 80 DEG C. and finally for 24 hours at 115 DEG C. to polymerize the resin to the insoluble, infusible state. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 574,642.
