Abstract

A transducer device has an electromechanically sensitive element one surface of which is secured to another similarly shaped surface by applying to at least one of said two surfaces a partially polymerized bonding material dispersed in a polymerizable liquid solvent material, placing the two surfaces one against the other with the introduction therebetween of a polymerization catalyst, and polymerizing at a temperature below 90 DEG C. The bonding material may be a partially polymerized ethylene glycol or diethylene glycol maleate, with which may be associated a proportion of a glycol ester of a saturated polybasic acid, e.g. sebacic acid. The polymerizable liquid solvent may be styrene or diallyl phthalate. The catalyst may be benzoyl or lauroyl peroxide, preferably used in combination with an accelerator such as cobalt naphthenate, and in a preferred process the bonding material is applied to one of the two surfaces to be bonded together and the catalyst to the other.
