[Class 87 (ii)] Dough is made into thin shaped forms such as scones by apparatus comprising an intermittently-moving conveyer 4, a bottomless receptacle or pitching frame 29 by which the dough is located on the conveyer, a press 17, roll 31 and cutter 41. When the apparatus is in the position shown in Fig. 1, with the frame 29 resting on the stationary conveyer, dough is placed in the frame. A connecting rod 26 then rises, taking with it the press head 17 and frame 29 (which is secured to 17) leaving the dough on the conveyer. The conveyer carries the dough along to the press and stops, the dough being then flattened by descent of head 17 from the shape shown in Fig. 10 to that shown in Fig. 11. The head rises, and two more steps of the conveyer feed the dough to and through the rolling station, where it is rolled to the shape shown in Fig. 12. A fourth step feeds the dough beneath the cutter 41 which cuts a circular quartered disc from the dough (Fig. 13). This cutter is operated by linkages 45, 46, 47, from press 17: it may be omitted. The frame 29 has two of its corners filled in with blocks, to give the shape shown in Fig. 10. Another form of frame is described, having four holes therethrough. A.s the head 17 rises, it rocks a floursprinkling box 48 to sprinkle flour on to the dough. The operative parts of the head 17 and cutter 41 are adjustably and resiliently mounted on the head and cutter. A rotating perforated drum 49 dusts flour on to the pressed slab of dough to prevent the latter sticking to the roll 31, and a rotating brush 52 removes the dusting flour from the cut pieces.
