Abstract
594,053. Drilling. HANCOCK, W. H. June 25, 1945, No. 16147. [Class 83 (iii)] A circular indexing-head has a pivotallymounted radial arm carrying a slidablymounted bush, gauging blocks and a micrometer head being provided to locate accurately the bush along the radial arm. The graduated work-table a is rotatably mounted on a base d, bolts k securing together the notched indexing- plate f and its supporting ring g with the table. A split clamping ring h in bevelled contact with the supporting ring retains the table in indexed position under the action of a bolt j. An indexing register n co-acts with the notched plate f, the graduations on the work-table corresponding with the notches in the plate f. Diametrically opposite the indexing register the base is formed with a vertical V-slide accommodating the carrier p between the jaws of which a slide-housing q is pivotally mounted at r. Spaced extensions s to the housing form a radial arm with a guide-way for gauge-blocks such as v, v<1>v<2>, so that these blocks in conjunction with a micrometer head w mounted on the slide-housing q, provide an accurate radial setting for a drilling-bush u secured in a slide t disposed longitudinally of the radial arm. The arm may be secured in an inclined position about the pivot-pin r by tightening the nut y, whilst its vertical adjustment is fixed by a bolt p<3> on the V-slide. By removing the arm and carrier assembly, the head may be used as an ordinary indexing or dividing head.
