Abstract
593,907. Filters. MALMBERG, S. Nov. 10, 1944, No. 22188. [Class 46] A filter for liquids comprises a plurality of rings arranged to form a cylindrical filter, each ring being formed of intertwined wires, and means being provided for causing relative movement between adjacent rings. In the construction shown rings 9, each formed ot two or more intertwined wires, are arranged in close contact around rods 7 which are attached to discs 8. The rings are positioned between discs 10, 11 which are slidable on the rods 7, springs 12 pressing against the discs 11. Every alternate ring 9 is provided with an arm 13 projecting inwardly between two rods 7, the remaining rings being each provided with an arm 14 projecting outwardly between a pair of plates 15 attached to the wall of the filter casing 1. The liquid to be filtered enters the casing 1 through inlet 18 and after being filtered passes out through pipe 21 and outlet pipe 19. The filter is cleaned, while in use, by rotation of the stem 16 secured to the disc 8, whereby the rings 9 with the inwardly-directed arms 13 are rotated relatively to the remaining rings. In modifications the two sets of rings have movement in opposite directions or movement at different speeds in the same direction. In a further arrangement two or more cylindrical filters are arranged, one within another in close contact.
