Abstract

593,634. Lubricators. UNI-GUN LUBRICATING EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and MARTONFALVY, I. C. June 14, 1945, No. 15176. [Class 12 (iii)] A device for controlling the lubricant pressure in a bearing comprises a valve chamber attached to the bearing as by the threaded hole for the usual lubricant nipple and having a relief valve giving communications to the atmosphere, the seating for such relief valve being formed in the passageway of the valve chamber leading, to the conduit by which the bearing surface is fed. The form shown is adapted for supply of lubricant by a grease gun or the like applied to a nipple portion 13 having a non- return valve 9. The relief valve is provided by a sleeve 22 with a shoulder 18 pressed downwardly by a spring 19 and sliding on a guide stem 21 which depends from a plug 20 screwed into the housing 10. A passageway 14 extends through this plug and stem for the passage of lubricant from the nipple to the bearing by the outlet spigot 11. The shouldered portion of the sleeve on its underside engages a valve seating 15. With excessive pressure in the housing the sleeve, due to the larger exposed area of its underface, will rise against the spring pressure to give d:rect communication to the atmosphere through a port 17. The pressure is regulated by screwing the plug 20 in or out by means of a screwdriver slot 23.
