Abstract
593,252. Two-part couplings. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., HILL, W. E., and WINTLE, T. D. G. May 26, 1945, No. 13235. [Class 38 (i)] A socket comprises two semi-cylindrical clamps a, a<1>, a bolt e for tightening the clamps on to the ferruled end of a cable and a sleevelike spring b surrounding the clamps. A flange on the ferrule interlocks with shoulders h on the clamps. The bolt e may screw into a binding-post m in an insulating base n, the post being secured by a nut o and prevented from rotating by a square shank m<1> or pips m<2>. A riveted-over lip k and a rib g respectively retain the clamps a<1>, a on the post m and the bolt e. A bush f maintains the clamps in spaced alignment. The post m may have a knurled periphery and be incorporated in the base n during moulding.
