[Class 139] [Also in Group XIX] A device for indicating instantaneous local time comprises a cylindrical surface bearing two complete world maps in Mercator's projection marked off in 15 degree intervals. A second cylinder or sleeve 14 of transparent material which has its peripheral edges marked with a time scale 19 is rotatably mounted round the map. This sleeve has shaded portions representing night and day and may be replaced by other suitably shaded scales corresponding to different months of the year. The screen may be rotated by an electric or spring clock motor housed in the base 10. To calculate local times this motor may be disengaged by the operation of a clutch and the screen turned by hand.
