Abstract
772,228. Clocks and watches. BOREL ET CIE, SOC. ANON., E. Nov. 24, 1955 [April 5,1955], No. 33752/55. Class 139. A timepiece includes two superimposed elements the lower of which is marked with a basic design while the upper one is transparent and so shaped as to constitute a refractive medium so that upon relative movement of the elements the image of the design as viewed through the transparent element is distorted. One of the elements may be stationary e.g., a part of the dial and the other manually movable to alter the image. One or both of the elements may be continuously rotated by the timepiece movement and they may carry peripheral pointers serving as hands. The basic design A, Fig. 1, may be formed by lines of different colours on a plane or ribbed surface. The upper element, Fig. 1a, which may constitute part of the glass is moulded so as to have a ribbed upper or lower surface, straight or arcuate with flat or curved faces.
