Abstract

441,854. Electric clocks. SOC. ANON. DES ETABLISSEMENTS L. HATOT, 12, Rue du Faubourg St. HonorÚ, Paris. July 23, 1934, No. 21544. Convention date, July 13. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 25, 1935.] [Class 139] In a clock driven by an electric motor, e.g. a synchronous motor, the time is indicated by a movable index which reads against a stationary hour scale, and a moving minutes scale. As applied to a geographical clock, a globe 67 is rotated in the direction of arrow t<1> intwentyfour hours and the time at any meridian is read off on the fixed hour scale 70, (two series of twelve hours each), and the concentric minutes scale 71 (two series of sixty minutes each) which rotates in the opposite sense to the globe at <11>/24 revolutions per hour. The globe rests on a plate 68 frictionally resting on a plate 79 rigid with a sleeve T<2> concentric with a fixed sleeve T<1> and mounted thereon by adjustable ball bearings 85, 88, and is driven through gearing 75, 78 from a sleeve 73. The minute scale 71 is carried by arms 80 fixed to a sleeve 82 which rests on and is frictionally driven by a ring 83 rigid with a sleeve T<3> rotatably mounted by means of adjustable ball bearings on sleeve T<2> and driven through gearing 74, 81 from a shaft 72. The shaft 72 and sleeve 73 are driven at appropriate speeds by a synchronous motor (not shown), and the friction drive to the globe and minute scale permits of setting to correct time. The globe is made of glass or other translucent material and illuminated internally by an electric lamp the leads 76 for which pass through the sleeve T<1>. A particular meridian, e.g. 69 may be rendered more prominent than the remaining meridians. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also states that a screen may be provided inside the globe to illuminate the part thereof corresponding to night time. Fig. 5 (Cancelled) shows a cylinder carrying a planispheric map the driving and time indicating devices of which are stated to be similar to those described above. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
