Abstract

591,366. Control of several D.C. motors. BENFORD, P. R. March 29, 1945, No. 7900. [Class 38(iii)] Two model locomotives are driven by D.C. motors 1, 2 which are polarized by recifiers 3, 4 and are fed with pulsating current in both directions from rectifiers 6, 7 so that they can be controlled selectively by rheostats 8, 9. The locomotives may be equipped with commutating switches for reversing the rectifier connections which, in the case of motors with permanent magnets, also changes the direction of rotation of the motors. In the case of motors with field windings the direction of rotation is changed by means of a switch for reversing the connections of the field winding. Similar arrangement may be provided for each of two or more circuits associated with a single track.
