Abstract

591,351. Testing radio equipment. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and GARFIELD, W. L. June 8, 1945, No. 14558. [Class 40 (v)] An arrangement for connecting a unit of a radio equipment to the rest of the equipment for testing comprises means for connecting indicating instruments in at least some of the conductors connecting the unit to the rest of the equipment. A unit of a radio equipment provided with a plug which normally cooperates with a socket on the equipment, is connected to the remainder of the equipment for testing by means of an extension lead and a junction box 1, Fig. 2. A socket 3 on the junction box receives the plug. of the unit under test, while a plug 2 on the other side of .the junction box is connected to a socket at one end of a multi-conductor cable, the other ,end of which carries a plug complementary to the socket on the equipment. Telephone type break jacks A, B, C, D, E and F, on the top of the junction box 1, are connected between corresponding members of plug 2 and socket 3. The remaining members of the plug 2 and socket 3 are connected directly. The jacks A-F are connected so `that a meter can be inserted in any of six conductors by means of a telephone type plug while the unit is being tested in working connection with the rest of the equipment. The junction box may be connected between the unit and the equipment by means of two cables.
