Abstract
1486752 Testing multi-conductor cables INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 15 April 1976 15671/76 Heading G1U A method of testing a selected conductor of a multi-conductor cable for continuity and interconductor shorts comprises the following steps:- (a) all the conductors are connected together at one end by a high resistance R 1 such as putty, (b) the other end of the selected conductor r1 is connected to one input of a signal generator OA, (c) the other ends of the remaining conductors are connected together by a band B and to the other input of the generator OA, whereupon the signal generator produces either no output if the selected conductor is open circuit, a low output if it is continuous, and a high output if it is continuous up to a point at which it is shorted with one of the other conductors. The generator output can be monitored on earphones EP.
