Abstract
591,171. Wheel scrapers &c. WHITE, G. J., and WATSON, A. A. J. May 1, 1945, No. 10991. [Class 108 (ii)] A fitting for removing stones &c. wedged between the opposing tyre walls of twin road wheels on a vehicle comprises an arm 1 mounted for example on the wheel axle to extend between the twin wheels and so shaped as to urge the stones &c. outwardly in either direction of rotation of the wheels. As shown, the arm 1, which is formed with a fishtail end to remove objects in a direction away from the axle, is curved to surround the inner wheel and is riveted or welded to a bracket 2 fixed in a similar manner to a plate 3 adapted to be secured to the vehicle spring 4 by the U-bolts 5 connecting the spring to the axle. In a modification, the arm is secured to a supporting bracket which is dished to embrace the lower part of the wheel axle and has flanges drilled to receive the U-bolts 5.
