Abstract
590,539. Radio sets. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 19, , 1945, No. 9896. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1943. [Class 40 (v)] A, radio set is assembled on a plurality of subchassis which are then rigidly secured together to form a box-like structure in which the flanges on at least two of the sub-chassis extend outwardly. After suitable mounting of radioapparatus 18, 18<1> on the sub-chassis members 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16, Fig. 2, these members are bolted together so that the larger apparatus 18<1> on members 8, 10 extend into the space enclosed by the members. Electrical connections between the individual members may be carried out by multi-pin and socket 28, 32, Fig. 3, the number of these connections being reduced to a minimum by wiring a complete circuit unit (e.g. H.F. stage) on each subchassis member. To increase the compactness of the structure, the apparatus 18<1> on members 8, 10 may be so mounted that the apparatus on one member overlaps that on the other, Fig. 4 (not shown), and access to the apparatus 18<1> is made through suitable holes in the opposite chassis-member. In another embodiment Fig. 5 (not shown) the sub-chassis members 8, 10 are hinged to members 14, 16 for ease in maintenance and repair of the apparatus 18<1>. The handles 22, Fig. 2, in addition to their normal usage, are also used for securing the sub-chassis 8, 10 to the member 16. Staying members may be included to increase the rigidity of the complete structure.
