[Class 40 (v)] A radio chassis comprises a main chassis structure, a wall portion of which has at least one opening therein, a sub-chassis U-shaped channel member on the web of which radio parts and wiring are mountable as a subassembly, said member being mountable on said structure in overlying relation with respect to said opening so that some of the wiring thereon may extend into the structure, and means to secure the sub-assembly in place on said structure. The main chassis 10 is in the form of a box-like structure having in its upper wall 12 a series of openings 14 bounded by flanges 15 ... 19. The sub-assemblies comprise channel members having a main web 28 and flanges 26, 27 adapted to fit over the flanges 15 ... 19 so as to cover the openings 14. Screws 29, or bolts with nuts, hold the parts together. Alternatively, the flanges may engage with a tight friction fit. Large radio units 50, 52 such as valves and coils are mounted on the upper side of the web 28 and their terminals extend to the underside to allow of the connection of smaller units such as resistances and condensers. Wiring 54 serves to interconnect the various sub-assemblies. The flanges 15 ... 19 may be omitted, in which case the side flanges 26, 27 of the channel members rest on the upper face of the main chassis (Fig. 4, not shown). A number of channel members may be bolted together side by side by means of screws passing through their flanges, the composite sub-assembly being positioned over a single large opening in the top wall of the main chassis (Fig. 5, not shown).
