Abstract

590,521. Head rests. RITTER CO., Inc. Feb. 2, 1945, No. 2717. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1944. [Class 52 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A head rest device concerned, as in Specifications 590,522 and 590,523, with the means for resiliently and detachably mounting the individual head supporting pads 13, on the bracket arms, 12, comprises a rod-like member 22 of rubber or the like the ends of which are moulded or otherwise secured in metal sleeves 23, 24 which fit in the sockets of the pad 13 and bracket arm 12 and are detachably secured therein by split-rings 28, 29 respectively, ring 29 being preferably of greater stiffness than ring 28 to to facilitate ready removal of the pad 13. In a modification, the ends of the rod 22 are secured in the sleeves 23 and 24 by detachable metal pins which pass through transverse holes in the rod 22 and abut against shoulders provided on the inner surfaces of the sleeves 23, 24, the pins being inserted before said sleeves are slid to their final positions at the outer ends of the rod.
