Abstract
589,661. Photographic and kinematographic colour cameras. BARNES, H. 'Oct. 27, 1944, No. 20917. [Classes 97'(i) and 98 (ii)] In a photographic or kinematographic colour camera, a carrier having mounted thereon one or more sets of beam splitting means consisting of at least two angularly displaced reflecting members with or without an intervening aperture is moved across the image forming beam whereby images are simultaneously produced, at least one set of beam-splitting means being always within the image-forming beam during the passage of the carrier. As shown, the carrier D situated between the camera objective E and its focal plane, carries mirrors A and B separated by an aperture C, and is adapted to slide to produce images successively on the plate A<1>, the plate C<1> and the plate B<1>. Colour filters A<4>, B' and C<4> may be arranged in front of each plate. The carrier may be spring- loaded and released synchronously by the shutter mechanism, or may be operated independently. In modification, either or both of the mirrors A, B may be subdivided into strips with an aperture C arranged between pairs of strips. In this case a small sliding movement of the carrier is necessary. In a further modification, three reflectors A, B and C are provided to reflect the rays on to three sections A <1>, B<1> and C <1> of a film F, as shown in Fig. 3. A single piece of glass or other material ground or moulded to the required angles and silvered, with clear strips between the silvered portions, may be used. In colour kinematography, the sliding carrier may be geared to the camera mechanism so that a single traverse of the carrier across each frame is accomplished while the shutter is open. Three or more reflectors may be used in four- or more colour photography. According to the Provisional Specification, only a single reflector .may be used in two-colour photography.
