Abstract
670,615. Stereoscopic photography. REIJNDERS, F. H. Dec. 18, 1946 [July 5, 1941], No. 37231/46. Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii). The two optical axes of a stereoscopic system converge on to the nearest object plane at a small angle (approximately 0.6 degrees) which is kept fixed for all object distances. To enable near objects to be photographed, light therefrom is reflected from mirrors such as shown at 3, 4 and then from mirrors 5, 6 into the camera objectives 7, 8. The mirrors 3, 4 are laterally adjustable in accordance with the object distance to maintain the inclination of the axes, this adjustment being simultaneous with the focusing adjustment if desired. The mirrors are so inclined that the central rays from the object fall on the two films perpendicularly. Further mirrors may be used to enable two images to be recorded side-by-side on a single film through a single objective. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes the other details of the embodiment illustrated. The mirrors 3, 4 are carried on oppositely-threaded portions of a rod 20<SP>1</SP> which is rotated by a knob 20 to adjust the mirrors to maintain the optical axes convergent on the object. This adjustment may be coupled, as by racks and pinions, to the focusing adjustments for the camera objectives. View-finders may also be carried on the supports for the mirrors 3, 4, each having a lens 22 and groundglass 21 with a line 23 on to both of which lines images of the object are registered when the optical axes are convergent on the object. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
