Abstract

589,638. Chimneys for fireplaces. ROWSE, A. G., and FORTH BUILDING & INVESTMENT CO., Ltd. March 24, 1945, No. 7503. [Classes 25 and 87 (i)] [Also in Group XI] A fireplace structure is built up of pre-cast unit block members including a main unit 10 of U-section affording the back and sides of the fireplace, at least one intermediate unit 11 affording a flue entrance opening, and at least one upper unit 13 (affording a flue passage throat 15 and a shelf 16. This unit is of ring section and affords a lintel in front of the fireplace. The abutting surfaces of the units are formed with inter-engaging marginal stepped portions and the joints are cemented to render the structure gas-tight.
