[Class 44] A fastener for detachably securing cowlings or panels comprises a stud G rotatably retained on one panel B and having an entrance-end head G<2> of flat form with shoulders G' beneath the same which is inserted through an elongated slot in an abutment plate D of a socket member C secured to the cowling rail or to the other panel A, the head G<2> then being turned to lie across the slot where it is held in position by spring blades F<2> pressing on the flats thereby to prevent unintentional rotation towards the disengaging position. The stud G has a retaining head G<1> with a screw-driver slot whereby it can be rotated and is retained on its panel B by a rubber washer H forced over the entrance-end head G<2> on to the stem G<3>. The shoulders G' are preferably inclined and are chamfered as shown at G<6> to facilitate riding on to the abutment plate D which is of dished conical form and supported by a rubber washer E. The spring blades F<2> are provided by bending up the ends of a one-piece member F which is held in position underneath the socket member C when the latter is secured to the cowling rail by rivets passed through appropriate lugs on the socket member. The flat entrance-end head is curved as shown at G<5> whereby the spring blades can act thereon to eject the head in the disengagement operation. The retaining rubber washer H of the stud on panel B fills the aperture A<1> of the cowling rail or other panel A when the fastener is engaged.
