Abstract
587,202. Tractor cultivators. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. (International Harvester Co.). Nov. 30, 1944, No. 23933. [Class 6 (i)] An agricultural tractor having forward and rear sets of tools mounted for independent vertical adjustment has means whereby tools on one side of the tractor may be raised independently of those on the other side, the whole operation being conducted by a power source on the tractor. A bracket 20 attached to the rear axle structure 14 has parallel links 18, 19 supporting tools' 17, and also a pivoted rod 22 attached to a rod 23 pivoted to the lower link 19. A similar rig 25 is situated at the forward end of the tractor where bracket 29 has parallel links 27, 28 supporting tools 26 and a pivoted rod 31 connected to lift rod 32. The body of the tractor has a housing 33 containing a rockable shaft 49 and sleeve 50, Fig. 3, journalled in bearings 48. To the sleeve 50 is attached a lever 52 with a link 54 connecting it to rod 31 while lever 51 is attached to the shaft 49 with a link 53 connecting it to rod 22. The movements of shaft 49 and sleeve 50 are governed by pistons 55, 56 working in hydraulic rams 34, 35 respectively. Sleeve 50 is attached by link 57 to piston 56 and shaft 49 is attached by link 61 through a break in the sleeve 50 to the piston 55. The shaft and sleeve can be operated independently by levers 37, 36 working in a slotted quadrant 40 attached to steering pillar 38. Links 43, 44 operate rams 35, 34 respectively by way of sleeve 66 and shaft 62 respectively. The various lever mechanisms described are situated on both sides of the machine so that by the operation of lever 36 the front tools may be raised or lowered and by operating the lever 37 the rear tools may be raised or lowered. The link 54 may be connected to lever 51 on one side of the machine and the link 53 attached to lever 52 on the other side with the result that the tools on one side can be raised or lowered by lever 36 and the tools on the other side may be adjusted by lever 37.
