[Class 37] A full wave rectifier comprises a pair of insulating bases 10, 10<1>, placed back to back each having upstanding posts 12 at the corners to form a central substantially rectangular area wherein fit rectifier units 16, 16<1>, formed with longitudinal baseplate tongues 18, 18<1>, lying in the narrow end grooves 14 between pairs of posts, and each having a counterelectrode 28 whereon is a contact plate 30 and a further rectifier unit 16a. The baseplate tongues 18a, 18<1>a, of these latter rectifiers are arranged opposite hand to the tongues 18, 18<1>, the whole being clamped by a metal clamp 36 contacting both outer counter-electrodes. Contact pressure between the various counterelectrodes and their corresponding metal plates or clamp is restricted to an area whereunder is a layer of insulating material 24, the contact plates having a central opening 32, and the metal clamp two suitably raised blisters 40 over the active rectifying area. The tongues 18a, 18<1>a, comprise the alternating current connections, the rectified current terminals being the clamp extension 38 and the common junction of the baseplate tongues 18, 18<1>. Alternatively a single insulating base may be used with similarly shaped opposite sides. Specifications 526,482 and 587,020 are referred to.
