An electrical contact device comprises a pair of conductive jaws 4, each formed of a plurality of contiguous sliding laminations 8, the jaws member 3 and urged to grip the bus-bar 1 by resilient silicone rubber pads 6. The pivot member 3 which may be of rectangular crosssection (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), and the pad support 6 are fastened to a base plate 2. More than one pair of such jaws may be provided (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown).
