Class 37 A germanium rectifier has two or more rectifying contacts of limited area, e.g. metal films with soldered leads or catswhiskers connected in parallel to give reduced resistance. To ensure that this does not impair the ratio of reverse and forward resistance the distance between the centres of adjacent rectifying contacts must exceed a figure of the order of 0.005 inches and is preferably 0.02 inches. The germanium is preferably N-type. Specifications 654,909, [Group XXXIX], and 686,915 are referred to.-
