Abstract
586,479. Air conditioning. FRIGIDAIRE, Ltd., BROAD, J. W., PERRIN, L., and WILLIAMS, C. E. April 26, 1944, Nos. 7749 and 20895. [Class 137] [Also in Group XIII] Air conditioning apparatus for installation in a larder &c. comprises a casing having an upper shell 1 containing the inclined evaporator 11 of a refrigerating machine (see Group XIII) contained in a lower shell 2, the air of the larder drawn in by a fan 13 through an annular inlet 3 passing over the evaporator and issuing to the larder through an inclined square grille 4 with inclined louvres. By orienting the grille the air can be directed in any one of four directions. Moisture condensing on the evaporator falls on to an inclined tray 20 and drains by a pipe 21 into a receptacle 22 from which it falls on to gauze or other absorbent material at the throat of a venturi tube 24 in the path of an air stream cooling the condenser, so that the moisture is evaporated and discharged to the outside of the larder as described in Specification 586,508. Alternatively the moisture can be dissipated into the larder air to maintain a constant humidity.
