Abstract
585,502. Thermal switches. SHERLOCK, J. E, and BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd. Feb. 2, 1945, No. 2689. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XX] A switch 21 in an oven heating circuit is operated through a lever mechanism at a predetermined temperature by a bellows 2 connected, by a capillary tube 3, to a thermally sensitive bulb within the oven, the temperature of the oven and the operating temperature of the switch being indicated by separate pointers on a scale 16. Increase in temperature of the gas within the bulb expands the bellows 2, lowering a rod 9 to rock a lever 10, 11 pivoted at 12, and operates a snap-action switch 21 through a lever 18 pivoted at 19. The pivot 19 is mounted in a bracket 22 which is biassed downwards by a spring 26 and is slidable vertically on guide 25 to vary the operating temperature of the switch 21, by the rotation of a cam 23 and indicator 27 by a knob 24. An oven temperature indicator 15 driven by a rack and pinion 14 is also operated by the lever 10, 11 its temperature range being varied by sliding horizontally a bracket 13 carrying the pivot 12.
