Abstract
A brazing alloy consists of 60-80 per cent. silver, 1-10 per cent. tin and the remainder copper. A preferred alloy consists of 67 per cent. silver, 5 per cent. tin and 28 per cent. copper. Fernico may be brazed, for example to copper, by etching the fernico to produce a capillary network on the surface, applying to the etched surface a solder consisting of 67-70 per cent. silver, 2-5 per cent. tin and 28 per cent. copper and melting the solder under non-oxidizing conditions, for instance by heating it in hydrogen at about 900 DEG C. for about twenty minutes.
