Abstract

<PICT:0585322/III/1> Apparatus for colorimetric gas investigation comprises gas induction means, such as a rubber bulb 18 operated by a handle 21, connected to the atmosphere through alternative gas flow channels each adapted to receive a detachable detector tube 15, and a valve 39 (see Group XXIX) on the atmospheric side of the detector tubes to select the tube to be used. The tubes are held between sockets 36 and spigots 34 attached to telescopic spring-controlled housings 33. The tube 30 connecting the bulb with the detector tubes includes a capillary section 28 and a filter 29. The detector tubes may contain an absorbent material 17 such as silica gel, and the indicator material 16 may comprise palladous sulphite or a complex mixture containing the palladous and sulphite radicals for the detection of carbon monoxide.
