Abstract
A combustion tube for micro-analysis apparatus comprises a first section 3 in which the compound under test is heated and a second section comprising an internally <PICT:0774005/III/1> baffled inner tube 6 leading into and surrounded by an outer tube 11 having an outlet 13. The baffles in the inner tube 6 may be provided by joining together a plurality of round- or flat-ended tubes having apertures at 4, 8, and at the end of the inner tube. In use, oxygen is introduced at 5 and gaseous products are mixed with excess oxygen by passing via restriction 14 through and around tube 6 to outlet 13 which leads to apparatus for absorption of water and carbon dioxide. The combustion tube may be made of transparent silica.
