Abstract

584,463. Securing panels. TRIGGS, W. W. (National Gypsum Co.). Sept. 4, 1944, No. 16858. [Class 20 (iv)] A marginal trim element, such as a metal base strip 12, is secured in spaced relation to a wall or other structure by members 16 having oppositely-directed coplanar projections 18, 20 engaging in the channelled edges 13, 14 of the element, and a flat portion adapted to be secured to the wall. In the form shown the projections 18, 20 are formed respectively by an offset flange at the base of the member and a lug 20 pressed out of it, and they are engaged in the channels 13, 14 by rotating the member from a horizontal to an upright position, to allow which one end of the flange 18 is curved as shown. Nail holes 23 are provided in the member above the lug 20. The strip 12 serves as a screed in plastering the wall.
