Abstract

584,008. Manually-actuated valves. CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO., Ltd., and RODWAY, J. May 24, 1944, No. 10037. [Class 135] A drain tap for air reservoirs comprises a cylindrical valve element 7 slidably mounted in a chamber 2 in the valve casing 1 and provided at its lower end with a valve face 9 of synthetic rubber material capable of adhesion to metal under the influence of heat and pressure, a central stem 8 projecting downwardly from the valve element through a passage 4 coacting with an externally operated rotary eccentric device 14 to urge the valve face from its seat 3 against the action of a spring 10 bearing at upper end against an annular washer 11 and at its lower end in a cylindrical guide socket 12. The valve element 7 is fluted externally to allow the passage of fluid. The eccentric device 14 comprises part of a transverse spindle 13 provided with a handle 16 at one end and threaded at the other end which carries washers 17 and a lock-nut 18. The passage 4 leads across a cylindrical chamber 5 to an outlet 6. Specification 560,761 is referred to.
