[Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXV] In a generator having a coil in which current is induced by the reciprocation of a magnetic member, the latter is connected to its operating device, e.g., a trigger through a spring arm so arranged that the magnetic member is moved only for one direction of movement of the operating device. In the form shown, a magnet (not shown) gives pole shoes 10, 12 the same polarity and pole shoes 14, 16 the same opposite polarity and the bar 20 is reciprocated between the position shown and the corresponding position bridging pole shoes 12, 14 by a spring rod 22. This rod is journalled in a cam follower 48 engaging in grooves 52, 54 &c., Fig. 5, in a cam 40 sliding between pole pieces, 4, 6 in a direction at right angles to the two rods 76 which confine the movement of the cam follower. The grooves and other guiding surfaces of the cam 40 are such that when this is moved in one direction by a trigger actuated rod 34 the cam follower is moved from the position shown against one pole piece across to the other pole piece, but when the cam moves back by spring pressure to reset the trigger, the cam follower does not re-cross to the other pole piece.
