583,753. Endless-belt conveyers ; jigging conveyers ; shoots. McDONALD, J., and G.W.B. ELECTRIC FURNACES, Ltd. Nov.28, 1944, No. 23745. [Class 78 (i)] In the transference of small, articles from a hopper 2 to a conveyer 14 by a vibrating feeding device 4 and a shoot 1, the tendencies for the initial feed to be too slow, or for articles gradually to accumulate on the lower part of the shoot, are eliminated by setting the initial feed to an excess capacity and by associating the shoot with means responsive to the weight of any excess articles near its lower end to stop the initial feed and to restart it when the excess has been discharged. The shoot 1 is pivoted at 6 and is provided with two backwardly extending arms 7, 9, the former of which carries an adjustable balance weight 8 and the latter of which is provided with a vertically adjustable abutment 10. This abutment is engaged by an arm 11 which is pivoted at 12 and actuates a switch 13 in the circuit of the vibrator 5.
