Abstract
583,327. Actuating controllers and brakes. RANSOMES, SIMS, & JEFFERIES, Ltd., and RANSOME, D. P. Oct. 18, 1944, No. 20115. [Class 38 (iii)] In vehicle; crane, or like control gear wherein a setting lever 1 can be moved to unfasten the locking bolt 15 and to displace the crank 7 from a neutral position, so that operation of a pedal or the like, acting through rod 12, will move the crank 7 and the controller drum spindle 19 in a direction (" forward or " reverse ") determined by whether the lever 1 is in position I or II (Fig. 2), the angular motion of the locking bolt 15 turns the cam 22 to move the brake lever 21; thus the movement of the setting lever 1 to either side of the neutral position will take off the vehicle brake. The cam 22, which is fixed on shaft 11, engages pin 23 on the lever 21; the latter turns freely on spindle 19 and actuates the brake through rod 24. The bolt 15 is slidably mounted on a member 16 secured to shaft 11. The lever 1 slides through sleeve 2 pivoted at 3 and is pivotally connected at 5 to lever 6 which carries the bolt 15 and has a slot 9 engaging the crank pin 8. A spring 18 can move the bolt 15 downwards, the lower end of the bolt entering a central hole or gap in a lock plate comprising two mutually inclined plates 17. Specification 558,139 is referred to.
